Trevor and Linda Rubingh/New City Kids Church-Jersey City … The high school dropout rate in our country is 42% for Latinos and 47% for African Americans. “Almost all our teen employees are Latino or African American and we work our hardest to guarantee they graduate from high school. How? In our teen employment program, teens who achieve all As and Bs are able to work 4 or 5 days a week. If their grades slip, teens hours are cut and they are required to attend tutoring sessions. The prospect of increased work hours is a huge incentive for them and gets kids to excel in school. Last year, all of our seniors graduated from high school. In fact, every single one of them is currently attending college. You many not be able to change the world, but for $250 you can employ one of our 31 teen employees for one month.” If you are able, please send your gift to New City Kids Church, 213 Virginia Ave., Jersey City NJ 07304.
In 2008 over 300 kids were served, 75 kids enrolled in after school center, 31 teens employed, 150 teen “one-on-ones”!!!

KenVanderWall, William Paterson College, Campus Crusade for Christ:
A relationship with God through Jesus Christ provides the hope and purpose in life that students are seeking. College students often find themselves in an environment that is tearing away at their moral and spiritual stability. They can feel trapped by the pressures of academic life and the deep need to be accepted by their peers. All of this can add up to a college career filled with anxiety, superficial relationships and fear of the future
Jesus offers today’s students something different. In the Bible, Jesus says “I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly.” John 10:10. When students begin a relationship with God, they find purpose and meaning, and they experience life the way that God intended.
Being a Christian is not about practicing a religion or fulfilling a duty. Being a Christian is about having a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Every person has a story. The gospel is really about our personal stories fitting into the larger story of God’s creation and purpose.
Being Christ centered means allowing God to shape our lives around His eternal purpose. It means evaluating our life’s direction and decisions in light of God’s Word. Being a laborer refers to God’s call for our lives.
Imagine the changes the world would see if everyone of the 110 million college students had an opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel every year…Campus Crusade for Christ goal is to see as many students go from a place of unbelief to a place of belief in God. CCC wants to see students embrace the purpose, love and forgiveness that God offers them in a relationship with Jesus Christ. CCC is currently planning on increasing its exposure worldwide, equipping students to share their faith and disciple others on campus, and plant new ministries where lost students are turned into Christ-centered laborers.”
