Leader:  When God is our loving heavenly Father, we are His children, sons and daughters of the King of Kings!

GEMS: Abba I belong to You!

All:  How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!  And that is what we are!  The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.  I John 3:1

Leader:  Abba I belong to You is a declaration of our identity,.  God is our Abba – our Father.  We are His children, dearly and lavishly loved.

GEMS:  I am thankful to be part of God’s family.  I am God’s child.  He is my Abba Father and King!

All:  For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship.  And by Him we cry, “Abba, Father.”  The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children  Romans 8:15-16

Leader:  Knowing that we ARE His children, sons and daughters of the King, should motivate us to live our lives like Jesus did – in ways many people in the world do not know or understand.

GEMS:  I am God’s child, and as God’s child, I need to live like Jesus.  Knowing who I am changes everything.

All:  Dear friends, now we are children of God and what we will be has not yet been made knows.  But we know that when He appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.  I John 3:2

Leader:  What an unfathomable privilege to be adopted into God’s family…to be called, named, invited and summoned to be a child of the King.

GEMS:  God’s love for me is amazing…it is a lavish kind of love.

All:  I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.  Ephesians 3:17-19

Murray Ricco was admitted to St. Claire’s Hospital in Sussex on Tuesday suffering from an infection and high fever.  Please lift him up in prayer.

 

SPRING CLEAN UP!  All willing workers are encouraged to bring their rakes, brooms and shovels for spring clean-up around the church grounds on Saturday, May 10 at 2:00 P.M. A “team” effort makes the work so much more enjoyable!  Hope to see you there!

 

From the Deacons! The deacons are looking for ADULTS that are willing to help out with the PA system during worship services.  Volunteers would be on a rotating schedule and the list would be posted in the bulletin each week.  If you are interested in helping out in this area talk to Charlie J. Kuperus.  A training session will be held!

 

VBS NEWS!!!!!!

Mark your calendars and reserve July 7-11.  We will hold VBS here at our church outside on the hill from 6:30 – 8:30 P.M.  We’re heading west for a great adventure to the AVALANCH RANCH.  Anyone interested in helping out that week or in any way (prep, set up) please contact Jennifer Vander Groef or Steph Valkema. 

From the Council!

The Council has agreed to temporarily suspend the search for a Youth Director until the fall.  This will allow the Education Committee time to review all education programs and visit the leaders.  This decision is not a retreat from filling this important need for our church family.  However, this need for our church youth should be viewed in the context of the educational needs for all age groups and other educational focus requirements in our church.  If you have a comment or thought that would help the Council or Education Committee in this process, please contact an elder or an Education Committee member.  Please continue to keep this effort in your prayers.

Christian Reformed World Relief has an urgent need for skilled volunteers (builders, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, drywallers,. etc) to help with its Disaster Response Services work in Gulfport, MS.  If you are interested, please talk to HR Byma or contact Art Opperwall at 800-848-5818.

 

Sussex Wantage Senior Citizens are invited to a two hour brunch program at Clifton E. Lawrence School on Thursday, May 15 beginning at 9:15 A.M.  RSVP by May 5 to 875-8820.

 

Tri-States Young Life will be holding a golf tournament on Friday, May 9 at the Port Jervis Country Club.  Registration begins at 7:30 with a shotgun start at 8:30 A.M.  for more info see the poster near the nurseries or call 570-491-5522.
