Returning to Church
We will be having duplicate Worship Services on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, at 8:30am and 10:30am. RSVP information for attending in-person will be sent out in an email the week before. If you are not on our email list and would like to be, please contact the office. Services will also be livestreamed on our Facebook page and YouTube channel.
Guidelines for Indoor Worship:
We are currently holding Indoor Worship Services with a rotating schedule. Here are guidelines for what this process will look like:
*Note: Guidelines may be subject to change as needed or as NJ State Requirements change.
It's Okay To Stay Online:
Not everyone is ready or able to participate in in-person worship, and that's okay. We also have to abide by the 25% building capacity from the state guidelines, which means a lot of us will be worshiping from home on any given Sunday as well. The services will be livestreamed on Facebook and YouTube on Sundays at 8:30am ET and at 10:30am ET.
Two Duplicate Services:
We are currently offering two duplicate services at 8:30am and 10:30am. They are duplicate in that they will have the same songs and same sermon. They will both be livestreamed as well.
Schedules and RSVPs:
NJ state guidelines currently restrict church building capacity to 25%, which for Sussex CRC is around 75 people. During this time, we will be utilizing a rotating schedule in combination with an RSVP system.
How this works:
Our church is divided into six districts and every week two of those districts will have priority registration for that Sunday. An email will go out on Monday giving people in those districts a chance to register early for either the 8:30am or 10:30am service.
On Wednesday, an email will go out to the rest of the congregation allowing them to reserve the remaining seats.
If you are not on our email lists and would like to be added, please let us know by contacting the office!
Due to restrictions, we are not offering nursery at this time. There is a changing table available by the upstairs elevator door. You can also go to an area in the downstairs Fellowship Hall if you need to step out with your children for a bit.
If you are signing up for the schedule, please let us know if you are planning on bringing your children with you.
Masks Are Required:
Masks shall be worn for the duration of worship services. If you forgot to bring a mask, one can be provided for you.
Entrance and Exit:
The white doors facing the street will be the main entrance and exit for the Sanctuary. This will help minimize the number of surfaces touched and requiring cleaning.
We will not have a offertory time during the service. Instead, you can give online or place donations in marked boxes in the Sanctuary.
Hand sanitizers are available at the back of the Sanctuary.
In the Pews:
Pew Bibles and Hymnals have been temporarily removed to reduce the number of shared objects at church. Bulletins will be laid out on the seats and pews in advance so nothing has to be handed out. Song lyrics and readings will be on the screen so you can follow along there.
As Proverbs 16:9 says, "We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps." (NLT). What we've outlined is a step in the process of reopening in-person gatherings. Let's not forget God's faithfulness which helped us meet together in different ways for the past few months. Let's trust that the Holy Spirit has been with us this whole time and will guide us in our plans moving forward.
